St. Thomas Virgin Island

Met Jamey tonight in Walmart and she is from St. Thomas Virgin Islands. We discussed Carnival coming up in April/May 2010. She invited me to join she and her sister for Carnival celebration. Apparently, the fare is very reasonable. Jamey has a job with my bank, etc. Connie Sue doing research for something new to do!

Back from Grand Bahamas November 2009

Grand Bahamas is a beautiful peaceful island. The United States economy has taken its toll on the island, however it is still as beautiful as ever. I have been blessed to have visited Nassau, Eleuthera, Andros, and Grand Bahamas and GB is still my favorite. The peoples are friendly and helpful. God will shine on this island again and jobs will come. I was inspired by this visit to begin taking groups to this paradise. Good food, friendly peoples, crisp green/blue waters, and fruit such lovely tasty fruit who could ask for more. Zorbas, Billy Joes, Simply Native are just a few great restaurants located in Grand Bahamas. Each day was filled with a new adventure. Fresh Conch salad at Port Lucaya from Dave, sweet Mango Dariquiri (non-alcoholic), hot Conch Fritters life is good. A big part of my day was spent discussing politics with the taxi and van drivers. One fella was FNM and the other PLP, both were convinced that their party was the best. I was thrilled to hear the stories and the reason they felt that their party was the best. While talking to Frank I thought I would like to belong to the FNM. Then the taxi driver whose name I don't remember convinced me that Perry Christie and the PLP was the only way to go. Both PM's are brilliant men and I look forward to the opportunity to talk with both of them.

Yes this was a great trip and I have my memories and pictures to prove it. I am now planning a trip to take a group in July or August. Some have indicated they would like to go in March or April we will see. Connie Sue back from the Bahamas where she had plenty to do!

The Gulf is nice!

We walked on the white sand. The weather is a bit chilly but the water feels nice. There appears to be many empty horseshoe crab shells (don't know the real name yet). I will research the reason for all of the empty shells. Collecting a lot of other shells. Great pictures will share on Wednesday. Connie Sue excited about all there is to do!

Going to the Gulf

Discovery Cruise Line to Freeport

Counting the days until I am in Grand Bahamas, November 14 & 15. Just taking a quick weekend cruise to catch up with old friends and get a check on the economy. Planning to take a group back in a few months and need to scout out hotel and fun things to do. It's been a while and I simply miss the friendly people and beautiful waters. The Conch Salad is calling my name. My mouth waters as I think of the fresh conch being pulled from the shell and beaten, seasoned and cut in preparation for the salad. Fresh bell peppers, onions, lime, and a secret seasoning which includes salt and pepper to taste. My mind goes forward to the crisp sardines mixed with bell peppers, onions, lime and seasonings served over grits I always have for breakfast. Another favorite is the Johnny Cake fresh from the oven with butter spead and melting on the cake. Yes it is not just the peoples, blue green waters, or mild temperatures, it is the food. Of course I could go on for hours and hours. As you can tell I love this place. Will keep you updated. Connie Sue always preparing for something fun to do!

Hello World! I'm Back!

It is simply amazing, the more I have to do the more I seem to accomplish. I once heard someone say, "if you want something done, give it to a busy person". Well that is me. Today I begin my new semester at Capella taking two classes; Grant Writing and The Epistemology of Practice Knowledge. Impressive? We will see. Actually I am very excited, as most of you know I love learning. As I said here I am writing while actually completing some initial assignments.

Oh I think I get here. When I am online in my courseroom and get a little bored I take a break and blog. Does anyone know where I can get a reasonable statue of "The Thinker". Can't reveal all of the projects I am currently involed in, however before the year ends you will know.

Here I go again, Connie Sue always looking for something new to do!

Survey is over one more task completed

Today our annual survey is officially over. The resurvey process consists of two or more surveyors returning to check corrected or changed items. We as administrators never quite agree with survey findings so we battle between the team leader and administrator and come to some sense of agreement. Then we both laugh and agree to the resurvey process. Anyway today it was officially over and I am very glad. Now I can move on to a couple of other tasks that must be completed. Applying for license renewal and completing new Medical Director Agreement. This job has over the years grown into a big "bear". But we all do what we must do.

I must admit I love the frail elderly population it is just all of the rules and regulations and the other stuff that wears one out. Well this week marks the end of my class at Capella and I am happy. However, there are many things that I must get done. Of course some are things that I am not able to share here as they involve other family members and well I had better be cool.

Well off to my big corporate meeting tomorrow and trying to adjust to daylight saving time. I am tired and sleepy now 12:06 a.m. This has got to get better. Usually I am in bed fast asleep by this time but with the changes well anyway here I sit.

Good night for now. See you soon!

One Week Left

Well I have one discussion area left and this quarter is over at Capella. I am so very ready. After this I will take a break and do some soul searching. This year has started off with a real bang. Survey preparation, survey, budget preparation, license renewal, license audit (never had one of those before), change of marketing director, death of 2 key employees close family members, on and on.

Good news though I have scheduled a cruise to Grand Bahama for Easter Weekend, can't wait. I have to get to the sea. I need to rediscover me. When I return I will get to writing I promise myself. I have been listening to some spoken word poetry, think I will try that.

I like President Obama's style. Go get them Mr. President, US will return strong. With a leader of his caliber we cannot go wrong.

Nitey night!

Work Overload

March 13, 2009 is a much awaited date. That is the last day of class for this winter quarter. I await a much deserved break. Preparing a Plan of Correction for a recent survey, completing this Corporate Board class, training several new employees, and life has rendered me more than ready for a break. I am all excited about a meeting at the Golf village next Thursday in St. Augustine. Ron and I will take a mini vacation and stay over Friday in our special spot, "St. Augustine".

I am preparing to resume my writing career. Each of you will be responsible for my success in this area. I have added a couple of links to my Facebook account. You simply must visit if you want to take a virtual trip to the Bahamas, land of the sand, sea and sun.

Well good night for now. Sleepy and ready for bed.

Connie Sue always looking for something new to do!

Catch Up

This past week I was in what we call in the longterm care industry our annual survey. For those of you who don't know I am a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. The survey is a grueling process, four to five strangers to your facility come in for 5 days and review random records, talk to residents (regardless of their mental status), family members, employees, and determine the type of care rendered.

The process ended up okay and actually based on others in the industry "great", however is the questions, the indecision, the curiosity, the unknown that wears you down. I would have much rather been writing stories to help others and preparing for my building project in Andros. Anyway we endured and the management staff for the most part were great. I have been doing this for over 28 years and I guess I am worn out.

Well, on to the good stuff. Ron went for several interviews and is so excited about the possibility of working as a manager at Taco Bell. All of his school papers are in and any day now we should receive his Green Card. I guess that is how you spell it. FCCJ, work, and residency these thoughts occupy most of his time. He is a great man and we laugh when we realize just how much he has had to process on his own due to my work and schoool. He is great and very flexible. That truly helps and I know it is why we get along so great. We have our days but with the help of God and Pastors Mike & Connie we think it is coming along greatly.

See I like this kind of writing it is what some would call free styling. Just telling my story not worrying about APA and all that jazz. You know this writing stuff is really therapeutic. I have got to catch up with the world. I have had my head stuck in survey books, rising early, going to bed late, what a life.

Okay I am going to get on with getting viewers and writers. Write me, email me. Let's get this blog thing going. Don't forget my FACEBook. facebook.com Connie Bend Colebrooke

I'm really tired

I was really very excited when I started at Capella pursuing my PhD. I had just completed my MBA at University of Phoenix and the excitement got the best of me. Don't get me wrong I enjoy learning and could easily become a professional student if only I could afford it. Well reality is setting in and I now realize in order to pursue my docturate and do well I will not be able to work full-time. Well the decision is I have to work so bye bye Capella.

I am still praying and seeking guidance, however I feel so overwhelmed. I am actually spending every night in front of this computer logged in to Capella. I think the school is great and recommend it highly. I would much rather be enrolled in a writing program. UCLA has some wonderful online classes and programs I am going to look into those.

What a week a new President of the United States. What a man, what a family, what a time. I pray for Mr. Obama daily. I love life and he seems to have it all together. I know he has worked hard to get here. My hat is off to him and his family.

Well nitey nite for now. A little boring tonight. I'm listening to 102.9 Island FM, Nassau, Bahamas. The beat is keeping me awake. All for now. Connie Sue always looking for something new to do.

What a day

I really like this blogging thing. I have talked to people I haven't spoken to in years. You simply must visit me on Facebook.com. Drop me a note. My challenge is getting everyone's email to invite them to join. I received a blog note from someone today who want senior stories. I was so relieved when I discovered she wanted my residents and not me. Whew! at that age you know. AARP has sent me another invite, this time I joined. I am my mother's age. It is true I think I am 17 at least I remember it like it was yesterday. Really I look and feel 35. Bahamians believe "age ain't nuttin but a number". Ronnie Butler sings a song by this title. Who is Ronnie? I will get some Bahamian music downloaded to share with you. Ron made some chicken souce today. It is truly good. It is like a chicken soup with potatoes and carrots. Me being the center of his life is drawing to an end. He is going on interviews now. It is only a matter of time. This has truly been blistful. No cooking, cleaning, doing laundry alone(can't turn this over to him completely, he dries everything).

Maybe I should start a Bahamian dating service, naw just a joke. This stuff takes a lot of prayer. Remember I was single for over 10 years. Kinda set in my ways. Companionship is nice. I will attempt to teach you all that I am learning about marriage, etc. Ha, ha. Thank you Pastor Michael T. Smith, without his teaching I would truly be lost. He and Pastor Connie live what they teach not some cinderella story. Visit them at cjax.com. Well nite, nite.
Really enjoying this Pandora Radio listening on comcast.net. My favorite is the Billie Holiday station. Try it, very soothing.

Life Update

Back from Sarasota. Life is good. Had a great time with family. Even thought the occassion was sad the reunion was great. Also my niece (her child was funeralized) and her father (my brother) made amends. This was great. Ron was well received by all. He had a blast. We got up early Sunday morning and went for a walk in the neighborhood. We hit a few fruit trees, grapefruits and dates. Fresh tree ripended fruit. Watch Facebook to see pictures coming soon. Of course we went to the sea. Wonderful. Saturday night was great of course I ate too much. Didn't, couldn't hurt anyones feelings. After tomorrow I am on my exercise and food program. Well I want to leave for work at 6:00 a.m. expecting annual state survey. Come on everyone read Psalm 91 and keep me in your prayers. Well it is raining outside and Ron has brought it to my attention. I am closing everything out and going to sit and listen to the rain. Being married is cool! Peace out.

Crazy Friday Night

I am sitting here completing some Capella homework. Ron & I must attend my grandnieces funeral on tomorrow in Sarasota, Florida. Who would have thought she was only 18. I don't know the whole story yet but I know she had Lupus. Well we will go and attend to our family obligations and be there for my brother. God bless the family. The positive side is that Ron hasn't been to Sarasota so we will make a short vacation out of the trip. We will leave around 6:00 a.m. Wish us well!

How to get time correct?

Help can someone tell me how to change time? As you can see time of post is incorrect.

Okay let's get this right

Whew! What a day. Pulled off some big meetings today at work. Brought some
power brokers together. Now I have to figure out how to publish this blog and get readers. Ron is out at mid week service at church. I have to complete some finishing touches to my discussion homework that must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Central Time. Really working on my schedule. My perferred schedule is 5:00 a.m. Arise - spend time with God I usually read Bible and some spiritual book. Then pray and repeat positive confessions
5:45 a.m. leave for track
6:00 a.m. Arrive at track
7:00 a.m. Leave track
7:15 a.m. Arrive Home, prepare carrot juice AAA in Mr. Juiceman
7:15 - 8:00 a.m. School Work
8:45 a.m. Leave for work
When I operate on this schedule my day goes well.

Well it is 6:45 p.m. I am now going to tune in to cjax.com and listen to mid week service this is a nice option I get to listen to Pastor Mike while I work on school work. I really miss midweek service. I will work on school schedule to assure attendance next week. Of course I am awaiting state survey so that will be the priority when it occurs. Happy New Year!

Beginning Today

Now this is interesting. I saw Marley and me on Friday night and decided it was time I got started writing. I love life and I know it sounds corney but I do. I am going to share my life with
you. My friends say I should. I must admit I have an exciting life. I believe we have to take life and live it. We have what we say, good or bad.
