Sometimes we get too busy for what we really love to do and spend time doing what we must do. I have made a decision to schedule and get to some of the things I love doing while also doing what I must. Hence, the title of this post. I love the Ocean and Beach Life. Why shouldn't I be able to enjoy these things and be able to perform my other many roles, employee, mother,Nana, church member, sister, friend, student, role model, woman, you get the picture.
Currently, I am reading; Conversations with Myself (Nelson Mandela) with foreword by President Barack Obama and Fantastic (The life of Arnold Schwarzenegger) by Laurence Leamer. I like to read almost opposing books at the same time to keep my sensitivity and knowledge fresh and diverse. I find myself all over the place sometime in dealing with politics and racial issues. Of course in today's world there are so many choices, battles, views, challenges, and technologies to embrace. One of my habits that I really like is that I purchase books when I see something I am interested in. I gave up always trying to read the top ten lists while they were hot off the press. I do like being able to converse with others on current topics, etc. But I found myself missing some other books that helped me at that particular time. So I usually purchase these books, read the forewards and introductions and place them on my bookshelf and when the mood or need or desire arise I read the entire book.
Facebook has become one of my favorite pasttimes. I feel it keeps me current with friends and acquaintances and whatever the latest craze might be. Anyway I am starting over with the blogging thing and will use these avenue to jot down and share thoughts. Twitter and Linkedin are also avenues I use to keep in touch with the business and book world. Well I feel this was a good start to my renewal blogging. I know feel refreshed. Love Ya!

St. Thomas Virgin Island
Met Jamey tonight in Walmart and she is from St. Thomas Virgin Islands. We discussed Carnival coming up in April/May 2010. She invited me to join she and her sister for Carnival celebration. Apparently, the fare is very reasonable. Jamey has a job with my bank, etc. Connie Sue doing research for something new to do!

Back from Grand Bahamas November 2009
Grand Bahamas is a beautiful peaceful island. The United States economy has taken its toll on the island, however it is still as beautiful as ever. I have been blessed to have visited Nassau, Eleuthera, Andros, and Grand Bahamas and GB is still my favorite. The peoples are friendly and helpful. God will shine on this island again and jobs will come. I was inspired by this visit to begin taking groups to this paradise. Good food, friendly peoples, crisp green/blue waters, and fruit such lovely tasty fruit who could ask for more. Zorbas, Billy Joes, Simply Native are just a few great restaurants located in Grand Bahamas. Each day was filled with a new adventure. Fresh Conch salad at Port Lucaya from Dave, sweet Mango Dariquiri (non-alcoholic), hot Conch Fritters life is good. A big part of my day was spent discussing politics with the taxi and van drivers. One fella was FNM and the other PLP, both were convinced that their party was the best. I was thrilled to hear the stories and the reason they felt that their party was the best. While talking to Frank I thought I would like to belong to the FNM. Then the taxi driver whose name I don't remember convinced me that Perry Christie and the PLP was the only way to go. Both PM's are brilliant men and I look forward to the opportunity to talk with both of them.
Yes this was a great trip and I have my memories and pictures to prove it. I am now planning a trip to take a group in July or August. Some have indicated they would like to go in March or April we will see. Connie Sue back from the Bahamas where she had plenty to do!

The Gulf is nice!
We walked on the white sand. The weather is a bit chilly but the water feels nice. There appears to be many empty horseshoe crab shells (don't know the real name yet). I will research the reason for all of the empty shells. Collecting a lot of other shells. Great pictures will share on Wednesday. Connie Sue excited about all there is to do!

Discovery Cruise Line to Freeport
Counting the days until I am in Grand Bahamas, November 14 & 15. Just taking a quick weekend cruise to catch up with old friends and get a check on the economy. Planning to take a group back in a few months and need to scout out hotel and fun things to do. It's been a while and I simply miss the friendly people and beautiful waters. The Conch Salad is calling my name. My mouth waters as I think of the fresh conch being pulled from the shell and beaten, seasoned and cut in preparation for the salad. Fresh bell peppers, onions, lime, and a secret seasoning which includes salt and pepper to taste. My mind goes forward to the crisp sardines mixed with bell peppers, onions, lime and seasonings served over grits I always have for breakfast. Another favorite is the Johnny Cake fresh from the oven with butter spead and melting on the cake. Yes it is not just the peoples, blue green waters, or mild temperatures, it is the food. Of course I could go on for hours and hours. As you can tell I love this place. Will keep you updated. Connie Sue always preparing for something fun to do!
